Going 2 the Ro

You know...there's a lot of information out there. You can spend days reading through all the blogs, news sites, media centers, videos, opinions, columns, and celebrity blogs that you would end up neglecting your family and shirking your responsibilities in life if you read through it all. I am often overwhelmed by the vast volume, but I still try to seek out information that feeds my soul, informs, and allows me to see all sides of things. As a justice seeker by nature, it's just part of my personality to try and gather as much knowledge as I can about something to try and understand the "why" of it all. That is part of my downfall, though. Too much too much too much.

I am learning to pick and choose more succinctly the places I go to read about the world and people's views. I have found that Rosie's blog feeds something in me, so I always start there in my morning internet ritual. Why? Because her personality is similar to mine in that she tries to show all sides of things. The good, bad and ugly. On top of that, she balances being an involved mom and wife, which I am all about. There's a connection there that has nothing to do with her celebrity (which is a great plus in and of itself). I find her interesting BECAUSE she is a mom and wife who tries to do good in the world and make a full life for her family and herself. That's my "base".

But being a wife and mother doesn't make me incapable of being knowledgable about the rest of what's going on in the world. I truly care about the state of our country and justice within the world. On Rosie's site, I get the best of those worlds. I can feed my celebrity fix and see the state of our troops in Iraq, all in one place. My mind can switch from meal planning to impeachment in a nanosecond during the course of my day....and it seems Rosie's mind works much the same way. Just read through the questions regular people send in to her thru her website. The topics range from what's the best broadway show for first time NYC visitors, to what kind of shoes her kids are wearing. Everything in between is asked, and answered on Rosie's blog. She even gives voice to the Rosie-haters for balance, if only to show the rest of us that the world still spews hatred and everything is NOT all rosy.

I know that Rosie and I will probably never meet face to face, but I consider her very much my friend as I navigate my way through the online world. I "go to the ro" each day to see not only what fascinating celebrity things she is up to, but also to see what she and others say about the world. You can't help but feel a sense of belonging as you see the question YOU were wanting to ask being answered personally by Rosie in her cryptic and truncated, lower case way. I giggle at the answers to some of the haters, as I hear her voice saying the words in my head. "y i oughttabang zoom 2 the moon alice gfu"...stuff like that just kills me!

Rosie's blog has a number of links to sites that ask and sometimes answer the questions I have about this government. From those links, there are more links to other sites that help me figure out how to make sense of things. Sometimes, I am fired up enough to send an email to my Capitol Hill reps and senators in Washington D.C., or others with more power than myself. It is better than doing nothing but complaining. It is doing something...and that's all I can do now as a mother and wife, along with financially supporting my party and candidates for change.

"Going 2 the Ro" is a great start for me and I am grateful for Rosie's blog. Her site is a great jumping off point for me in my quest to connect with the world and see what's going on in the lives of one of my favorite celebrities, as well as the rest of world. go 2 the ro!
